Maiya Keck was born on April 2 1970 in Providence Rhode Island. She graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in painting in 1992. Maiya moved to Marfa, Texas in 1994 with her husband, the restaurant’s designer, Joey Benton. The restaurant opened in April 2002. Her restaurant experience includes: the Bluepoint Oyster Bar; and Al Forno, where she had the privilege of working with Maureen Pothier, Johanne Killeen and George Germon. She currently lives in Marfa with her husband and two sons.
